Our first post and there’s already so much to say! Everything is growing from our mulberry tree, the lilac, vines to the figs – we can’t believe that in barely a month the figs have grown so much! We have 3 fig trees and we’re already thinking ahead to some lovely lunches of fig and goats cheese salad washed down with a glass of rose! Will need to extend my repertoire of fig recipes but perhaps nothing beats a fig fresh from the tree, as the well known chef and writer on French cuisine Elizabeth David said in her book, ‘An Omelette and a Glass of Wine’:
To eat figs off the tree in the very early morning, when they have been barely touched by the sun, is one of the exquisite pleasures of the Mediterranean.
Oh, we can’t wait! More news soon on what we’re going to plant in our veggie garden…
